Announcing our record-breaking air ambulance team taking on Bath Half for charity
Wednesday, 04 February 2026
As Bath’s official air ambulance, we’re excited to announce that we have officially filled all 60 spaces for the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 15 March!
Our Bath Half team consists of local supporters, former patient Luke Dark, two officers from Wiltshire Police, a corporate team from Rotork, plus our Charity team members Teresa Harris and Alex Winchcombe, and pilot Elvis Costello, Dr Giles Nicholes and critical care paramedic Matt Metcalf.
As one of the most prestigious half marathons in the UK and the largest charity fundraising event in south-west England, we’re delighted that we have our biggest fundraising team to date!
Teresa Harris, our Health and Safety Manager, said, “Having worked for Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance for three years, I’ve seen how important the charity is for our community and wanted to do something to help raise vital funds, so I signed up to attempt to run Bath Half marathon. I wouldn’t ever be able to train and run a half marathon for myself – my furthest distance before was 5km - but every step is worth the effort to support our amazing charity.”
Among the runners is former patient Luke Dark, from Melksham, whose story has inspired many in the local community. After suffering a serious medical emergency that left him in a coma, Luke has raised over £3,600 to date for the Charity, demonstrating remarkable determination and resilience. Luke now volunteers with Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity and is once again taking on the Bath Half to give back to the Charity that provides critical care across the region.
Each of our runners have pledged to raise a minimum of £250, which means that in total our team hope to raise £15,000. This is the equivalent to funding over three potentially lifesaving missions in Wiltshire and Bath.
With our airbase in Semington, near Trowbridge, it takes just four minutes for our crew to fly the centre of Bath. In 2025, we are called to Bath and its surrounding areas – or to fly/transfer patients to the city – around four times a week. Our crew attended 97 missions in the city, representing over eight per cent of all our missions in 2025. The Charity also responded to over 70% of all incidents requiring a critical care response in the Bath area last year.
Chloe Holtom, events planner, explained, “This year we doubled the available number of Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity spaces, so we are thrilled to have a full team. We’re grateful for every single runner who has taken on the challenge to represent and support their local air ambulance at Bath Half. As a Charity, we rely on the generosity of our communities to come together and fund our lifesaving missions. Our team of volunteers and staff can’t wait to cheer our runners on!”
A huge thank you to everyone who has signed up, we couldn’t do our lifesaving work without you.
