Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s critical care cars are a crucial resource for the charity, as the crew regularly attend emergencies across Wiltshire, Bath and surrounding areas by car, either when the helicopter is unavailable or if it is quicker to attend by road.

In March one of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance critical care cars was involved in an accident en route to an emergency. The vehicle has since been replaced with thanks to a £31,000 donation from the HELP Appeal, topping up the insurance payout.

Subsequently, MRG on Bath Road has generously offered to provide servicing for the new Volvo XC90 free of charge to keep the crew motoring 365 days a year.

Katrina Eveson, service manager at MRG, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Wiltshire Air Ambulance as it is such an important, local charity that makes such a difference to the lives of people in Wiltshire, Bath and surrounding areas.”

The new Volvo XC90 carries all the same essential medical equipment as the helicopter, ensuring the crew can assist those who need them most by air or land.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s safety and ground operations manager Richard Miller said: “We are very grateful to MRG and Chippenham Motor Company for providing the servicing on our new XC90.

“The critical care cars are used when the helicopter is already in use, away for maintenance or if the mission is located close to our base in Semington.

“It is essential for the effectiveness of both the critical care cars and clinical team attending that these vehicles are regularly serviced to a high standard.”

Wiltshire Air Ambulance are grateful for the support of local businesses and are excited about the partnership with Chippenham Motor Company and MRG.

Naomi Barker, the charity’s corporate partnerships lead, explained: “As a charity which receives no regular direct funding from the Government or National Lottery grants, so we are immensely grateful for the support of local businesses.

“Businesses play a significant part in supporting our lifesaving work, whether that support is from the donation of goods or services, joining our Business Club, or supporting us through fundraising and Charity of the Year partnerships.”
