Give your unwanted clothes a new purpose
Monday, 20 July 2026
Hosting a textile recycling bank is a simple way to support Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance while helping protect the environment by keeping unwanted textiles out of landfill. The funding helps keep our crew on call every day for up to 19 hours, responding to an average of three incidents every day.
Working with Recycling Solutions
Established in 2007, Recycling Solutions is a family-run recycling company based in Heywood, Lancashire. Since its launch, the company has worked alongside charities and local authorities to raise vital funds while reducing the amount of clothing, textiles and household items sent to landfill.
Every month, Recycling Solutions diverts at least 200,000kg of textiles from landfill and raises thousands of pounds for its charity partners, including Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity.
The company provides the expertise and infrastructure needed to transform unwanted clothing and shoes into ongoing charitable support. As part of the partnership, Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity receives a guaranteed monthly donation, providing a reliable source of funding throughout the year.
Did you know?
According to WRAP, the average UK adult owns about 118 items of clothing, but roughly a third go completely unworn for at least a year. Nationwide, this is the equivalent to 1.6 billion unused garments gathering dust in British wardrobes!
What can I donate?
We welcome:
- Good quality, clean clothing
- Paired shoes
- Coats
- Bed linen
- Towels
- Sheets
Please place all donations in a carrier bag before using a textile recycling bank.
If you'd like to donate other items, please visit our Devizes Charity Shop.
What happens to my donations?
Simply place your unwanted clothing, shoes and household linens into a bag and take them to your nearest textile recycling bank.
Collection team empty the textile banks regularly and then transports the donations to a local hub, where they're baled and prepared for trusted trading partners in the UK and overseas.
The clothing is then sorted and graded by quality. Good quality garments are given a second life through second-hand clothing retailers both in the UK and around the world.
Even worn-out textiles don't go to waste. They can be transformed into industrial cleaning cloths, mattress filling, insulation and new fibres.
So, every time you donate, you're doing more than clearing space at home. You're helping protect the environment while supporting the lifesaving work of Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity.

What difference does my donation make?
Councillor Leigh Jackson has been raising awareness of our textile recycling banks in Haydon Wick Parish.
He said:
"These banks help raise funds for the fantastic Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity while also helping us recycle unwanted clothing and reduce waste.
Many residents will know the air ambulance has landed in different parts of our community over the years, responding to serious incidents and providing lifesaving care. It's an incredible service, but it relies heavily on donations and community support to keep operating.
If you're having a clear-out at home, please consider donating. A simple bag of unwanted clothes can help support a lifesaving local service while doing something positive for the environment."
Head of fundraising at Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity, Fraser Normington, said:
"We're proud of our ongoing partnership with Recycling Solutions. Their support enables our local communities to raise vital funds for Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity while making it easy for people to recycle their unwanted clothing responsibly.”
To date, they have helped raise £392,405 for our lifesaving service. Alongside this fantastic total, the network of textile recycling banks helps raise awareness of our work across Wiltshire and Bath.
From community groups and sports centres to village halls, pubs and shops, we're incredibly grateful to every organisation that hosts one of our banks.
