Community comes together to celebrate Mark’s life and support lifesaving work.
Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity is set to benefit from two heartfelt fundraising events in memory of Mark Lewis, whose life was saved by the charity’s crew 10 years ago following a devastating accident in rural Wiltshire.
Mark survived the incident thanks to the rapid response and expert care provided at the scene. However, he suffered a severe brain injury which required ongoing one to one care. Sadly, Mark passed away in 2025. Now, his family and friends are coming together to honour his memory and give back to the charity that gave them more time with him.
Mark’s brother-in-law, Martin Filipe, and nephew, Adam Filipe are hosting a special concert evening, inviting the community to enjoy a vibrant mix of musical theatre, pop and rock. The event spotlights Adam, Salisbury’s own West End performer, fresh from his 2025 role as Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. All proceeds from the evening will go to Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity, including ticket sales and bucket collections on the night.
Alongside the concert, Mark’s brother, John, and a dedicated group of friends are preparing to take on a London to Paris cycle ride, marking the 10-year anniversary of Mark’s accident. The challenge holds deep significance. In 2016, Mark himself organised a team of 40 riders to complete the same journey in aid of charity. During a training ride, Mark was involved in the accident that changed his life. Determined to honour him, the team completed the ride that summer under the banner “Riding for Mark”, which raised over £40,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital, Mark’s chosen charity.
This year, the team will once again ride in Mark’s memory, this time raising funds for Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity, whose critical care team attended Mark on that day. As a Charity, this lifesaving service relies entirely on the generosity of local communities. Events like these not only honour Mark’s legacy but help ensure the team can continue to be there for others when they need it most.
