This partnership underscores a shared commitment to enhancing aircrew proficiency and ensuring the highest standards of patient care across Wiltshire and Bath.
The Bell 429 simulator, developed by Entrol, offers a highly realistic training environment. Equipped with GTN 750 and GTN 650 units, a spherical visual system with a 200ºx70º field of view,6 HD laser projectors and a vibration system, it accurately replicates various flight conditions, including vortex ring, translational lift, and turbulence. This immersive experience enables our pilots to hone their skills in both routine and emergency scenarios, enhancing their ability to respond effectively during missions.
Geoff Packer, CEO of HeliSpeed, stated: “We are delighted to partner with Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity to support their critical mission. Our Bell 429 simulator provides an exceptional training platform that will prepare pilots for the real-world challenges of air ambulance operations, ultimately improving safety in operations.”
Robert Backus, Chief Training Captain of Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity, stated: "Incorporating the Bell 429 simulator into our training programme underscores our commitment to excellence in patient care. This investment ensures our pilots are exceptionally well-prepared to handle the complexities of air ambulance operations, ultimately benefiting the communities we serve.
“The adoption of this advanced simulator in the UK reflects our ongoing dedication to innovation and excellence in emergency medical services, ensuring we can also keep the helicopter online during periods of training. We remain steadfast in our mission to provide rapid, lifesaving care to those in need across Wiltshire and Bath.”
