The Chalk Walk is a month-long walking challenge that invites you to explore some of the most iconic countryside in Wiltshire, while raising a target of £100 for Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity.
Set your own pace and complete the route at any time during the month. Walk solo, with friends, family or colleagues, and turn your miles into lifesaving support for your local air ambulance.
Inspired by Wiltshire’s famous chalk horses, the route links these striking landmarks across rolling downs, canal paths and woodland trails, making it a challenge rich in history, scenery and fresh air.
To make the challenge accessible to as many people as possible, there are two routes to choose from:
Whether you are a seasoned walker, a family looking for a shared goal, or a business keen to bring colleagues together, there is a route to suit everyone.
As a challenge event, participants are encouraged to fundraise throughout the month, helping to ensure our critical care crews can continue to be there when they are needed most across Wiltshire and Bath.
The route
The current route begins in Marlborough and heads towards the Hackpen chalk horse, before following the Ridgeway to the Alton Barnes chalk horse. From there, it continues on to Honeystreet, follows the canal to Pewsey, and then heads through West Woods before finishing back in Marlborough at the final chalk horse.
Please note that the route is currently under review by Tim Lewis of the Wiltshire Ramblers and will be confirmed once final checks are complete.
