Maria joined Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity in May 2017 as lead doctor.

She began medical school in London in 1994 before training in Emergency Medicine. She has worked as an emergency medicine consultant in Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Queen's Hospital in Romford, Essex and is currently working at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

She has previously worked as a pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM) consultant at Magpas Air Ambulance, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and London's Air Ambulance. She is also a tactical medical advisor to the East of England Ambulance Service, and an examiner for the Diploma and Fellowship in Immediate Medical Care exams, which people sit to qualify as PHEM consultants.
